As battery industry leaders, Palladium Energy takes battery pack testing and safety seriously. Recent events, such as the 2010 Dubai plane crash, have reminded our industry that protocols and handling care are imperative when shipping lithium batteries. In fact, in the past week, the United Nation’s International Civil Aviation Organization agreed to new lithium battery air cargo restrictions – a move that the Rechargeable Battery Association deems a “reasonable compromise.” (Note: The restrictions will not go into effect until January 1, 2013. Palladium will keep our customers and partners apprised of any formal changes as they come about.)
At Palladium, we’ve shipped more than 550 million lithium-based battery packs in the past 40 years without a single major recall. How do we do it, you ask? The answer lies in a 6,000 square-foot area within our Shanghai manufacturing facility in the Minhang District. Here, Palladium owns and operates an independent, CTIA Authorized testing facility – IQ Laboratories (IQL). In fact, we are the only custom battery pack manufacturer with a testing laboratory of this caliber.
